Christian Coleman to miss Olympics despite reduced ban

GENEVA (AP) — American sprinter Christian Coleman will miss the Tokyo Olympics after failing in an appeal to overturn his ban for missed doping tests. Coleman had his ban cut from two years to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport but the ban won’t expire until November. That is three months after the Olympics. The 100-meter world champion is now clear to compete in the 2022 season. That includes defending his title at the worlds in Eugene, Oregon. The CAS judges say an 18-month ban was appropriate because Coleman wasn’t entirely at fault for one of his three missed tests.
