Hundreds arrested in Mississippi ICE raids
(NBC News) Hundreds of undocumented workers have been released from federal custody following massive immigration raids in Mississippi.
Now they, and hundreds of others still in custody, are awaiting court hearings and possible deportation.
680 were arrested Wednesday, loaded onto busses and taken to a military hanger to be processed.
The raids came on the same day as President Donald Trump’s visit to El Paso, Texas, where a gunman who posted an anti-Latino diatribe online before he killed 22 people.
Sources tell the New York Times the raids had been planned for some time, with government operatives flown in days ago.
