Household Hazardous Waste Day scheduled for this weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Household Hazardous Waste Day pre-event is happening Friday, and the main event will be Saturday. 

Batteries, electronics and paint are some of the items accepted at 999 Lauren Avery Drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

This is a county sponsored event, but the city also partners with them in planning and staffing. The county utilizes a grant from the State Division of Waste Management to cover up to 75% of costs. The estimated cost is about $35,000 per year. 

On Thursday, 200 cars came through just for paint and electronics collection. 

As many as 900 cars have participated in single day events in previous years.
