House Bill 161 approved in Kentucky

On Tuesday, the House Standing Committee on transportation approved House Bill 161, but what does that mean for you?

The measure is sponsored by Rep. Kevin Jackson of Bowling Green and would allow third-party entities to issue driver’s license renewals.

Twenty-eight other states already allow third-party entities to issue driver’s license renewals, providing residents with greater flexibility and shorter wait times.

A third-party entity could include AAA offices, insurance offices or other government agencies that wish to participate and are approved by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
