Houchens Industries Small Business Accelerator cuts ribbon on building

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green’s small business accelerator is helping local entrepreneurs turn their ideas into brick-and-mortar businesses.

Local businesses, including Danny’s Italian, The Good Rind and Clean Cut Barber Shop, have all called the accelerator home.

The late Dr. Abraham Williams, former longtime director of the Bowling Green Housing Authority, played a key role in making the facility possible, helping secure millions of dollars in funding.

One local business owner says the opportunity has been a game changer not only for his business but for other entrepreneurs who have gotten their start there.

“We started in my garage or whatever. And at the time, we didn’t think that, you know, it would actually grow real big, because it wasn’t really our intention. It was just something that we wanted to start kind of see what it did. And it turned out to work in our favor. And just to see everybody else in the building and everything that they’re accomplishing. I mean, these doors are open, in and out. Everybody’s in and out, specially BBG Events they’re in and out. We’re in and out, and Danny’s Italians, they stay busy. And then the barbershop. So it’s been a great opportunity for all of us to to, like they say, live the dream and make our dreams a reality,” said Owner of YVNG Forever Playzone Brandon Daniels.

The Small Business Accelerator is located at 348 College St.
