Hosparus Health hosts senior resource fair for community

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hosparus Health invited partners from the community to WKU’s Medical Science Complex for a senior resource summit.

It offered seniors a chance to speak with different organizations that can help them prepare for their future.

From Bowling Green Parks & Rec’s fitness department to different healthcare groups, staff were excited to have so many groups out to help look toward what’s next.

One of the misconceptions many seniors have is about nursing homes, which one Hosparus staff member clarified.

“A lot of people are terrified of nursing centers. They think that it is a place that you go when you’re not going to get another opportunity… and that is not the case… just like with our palliative care and hospice care models at Hosparus, people are always so misinformed and they think that it is only for the last 11 hours of life. They’re often very surprised at what’s available to them, and certainly covered by Medicare and Medicaid at 100%,” Kristen Roderick, Manager of Community Outreach for Hosparus Health, says.

Roderick also adds she’s excited to have an event like this that can clear up any misconceptions people may have, and also open their eyes to new organizations they may not have even thought of before.
