Hopkinsville man charged in reported shots fired incident

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Hopkinsville man is facing charges following a reported shots fired incident on Monday.

According to a uniform citation, the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to the area of Honeysuckle Drive and Evergreen Park Drive regarding a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers say they saw a male, who appeared to be running behind apartment buildings near the fence line. Police say the male matched the description given of the suspect.

Officers say they received information that the suspect had approached a group of a juveniles at Hawthorne Drive and Honeysuckle Drive, pointed a handgun at them and, as the juveniles fled, eight to 10 gunshots were allegedly fired.

Authorities say they made contact with the male, identified as 22-year-old Delrico McKissick of Hopkinsville, who was detained.

Officers say they located a handgun in the area and confirmed it had been reported as stolen.

Police say witnesses positively identified the detained male, McKissick, as the suspect.

McKissick was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail.

He faces charges of tampering with physical evidence, first-degree wanton endangerment – discharge of a firearm, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property (firearm).
