Hope for the Holidays: Goodwill Kentucky offers support for Bowling Green residents in need

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The holiday season brings joy and celebration for many, but for Kentuckians searching for a pathway out of poverty, this season can add to the challenges they face.

Goodwill Kentucky states it is is bringing hope to Bowling Green families by offering support that lasts far beyond the holiday season. Throughout 2025, the Bowling Green Opportunity Center, located at 1806 U.S. 31-W Bypass, has served as the community’s go-to hub for essential resources.

The Center provides job-readiness training, job placement, expungement and reentry support, housing and financial coaching, digital skills training, and access to dozens of community partners, all designed to help individuals build stability, independence, and long-term success, according to Goodwill Kentucky.

In 2025, the center:

  • Reported 1,579 unique visitors.
  • Reported nearly 700 active members who regularly meet with a Goodwill Kentucky career
    coach.
  • Placed a total of 380 individuals into jobs, internally and externally.
  • Awarded nearly 100 Work Ready certificates.
  • Had 11 individuals earn industry-recognized certifications.

Bowling Green residents in need can also access services like the Another Way program, which uses Goodwill transportation to visit areas often used by those experiencing homelessness to connect those willing with job sites around the city.

Goodwill Kentucky says those participating work for four hours of paid work. In return, Goodwill says the participants earn $50, lunch and an introduction to the internal and external barrier-reduction resources available through Goodwill Kentucky and its partners.

The Bowling Green Opportunity Center has a proven track record of helping individuals achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency.

No appointment is needed, and all are welcome, according to Goodwill Kentucky.
