Holiday pageant gives residents a chance to shine
BARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Barren County Nursing and Rehab in Glasgow hosted a Christmas Magic Pageant for people of all ages and abilities, drawing participants from across Kentucky.
“Gentlemen and ladies from all over Kentucky participated,” Terri Teague, the facility’s marketing director, said. “We even have queens who have won titles across the state, many of whom will be competing. We wanted to give our residents the chance to meet these queens and learn what the pageant world is all about.”
The event created a fun and encouraging environment, especially for first-time participants.
“I got into the pageant world about a year ago and won my title to compete at the state Kentucky County Fair,” one participant said. “I’ve been hooked ever since, and I wanted to share that joy with every lady and gentleman here.”
The pageant brought joy not only to participants but also to the community.
“A lot of people think that if you live in a nursing home or have a special need, your life is over. That’s not the case,” Teague said. “We are giving all these beautiful ladies their life back.”
