Hilltoppers Rout Colonels Tuesday Night in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ky. – WKU Baseball (21-20) defeated EKU (10-31) 13-0 in seven innings Tuesday evening at Turkey Hughes Field. The Hilltoppers scored 13 runs on 15 hits while allowing just four EKU hits. Lane Arroyos marched the hit total for the Colonels, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. Camden Ross and Hayden Robbins both hit home runs on Tuesday. For Ross it was his fourth of the year and the fifth for Robbins.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hayden Robbins became the first base runner of the game, reaching on a fielding error by the EKU third baseman.
  • Lane Arroyos singled to right field to advance Robbins over to second with one out. Robbins and Arroyos stole second and third to both move into scoring position.A walk loaded the bases and Cael Frost drove in Robbins on a sacrifice fly to left field to give the Hilltoppers an early lead.
  • On a 1-1 count Camden Ross logged an infield single and scored Arroyos from second for a 2-0 WKU lead.
  • In the WKU third, on a 3-2 count with Robbins on first and one out, Kyle Hayes lined a double into the gap in right-center to extend the Hilltopper lead to three.
  • After a flyout, Camden Ross stepped in with two outs and launched his fourth home run of the season down the left field line to give WKU a 5-0 lead.
  • The second consecutive leadoff walk for WKU, this time by Alberto, started off the fourth and put a runner on first. After a strikeout, Robbins homered to right center field to extend the lead to seven.
  • After a groundout to start the WKU fifth, the next two batters reached and a fielder’s choice put runners on first and third with two out.Robbins logged an infield single to score Ethan Reynolds. Arroyos followed that with a single up the middle to score Austin Haller from second and extend the Hilltopper advantage to nine runs.
  • After EKU recorded the first out of the Hilltopper seventh, Haller and Coley were both hit by pitches and Arroyos lifted his fourth hit of the day into left field to score Haller from second and advance Coley to third.
  • The 11th run of the game for WKU was scored when Dalton Fiveash recorded a pinch-hit single to score Coley and move Arroyos over to third.
  • Keifer Tarnoki doubled to right center and Daniel Stewart singled through the right side to push the Hilltopper lead to 13-0.

  • With the win, WKU improves to 20-20 on the year and 7-11 in CUSA play.
  • WKU now leads the all-time series with the Colonels 79-64-2.
  • Dominic Monaco started on the mound on Tuesday. Monaco allowed no runs on just three hits with a career high six strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work.
  • Monaco was credited with the win, marking his first as a Hilltopper.
  • Out of the bullpen, Trey Reinburg saw action. Reinburg tossed 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts.
  • Reinburg’s 3.0 innings of scoreless work mark his most effective outing of 2026, en route to his first save.
  • Lane Arroyos had his first four hit game as a Hilltopper to lead the WKU offense. Arroyos finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. All four of his hits were base hits.
  • For Arroyos, it was his fifth time in 2026 recording three-or-more hits in a game.
  • Camden Ross finished up 2-for-3 on Tuesday with three RBIs and a run. Ross hit his fourth home run of 2026 in the third inning.
  • Hayden Robbins also had a home run on Tuesday. The native of Richmond, Ky. finished with a stat line of two hits, three runs, and three RBIs in three plate appearances.
  • Tuesday marked the third straight multi hit game for Robbins.
  • Kyle Hayes had a 1-for-3 night with a run and hit-by-pitch.
  • Dalton Fiveash and Manny Alberto both finished 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI. Alberto added a team high two walks in the effort.
  • Nine Hilltoppers scored a run on Tuesday, including eight that picked up at least one RBI.
  • WKU’s 13 run margin on Tuesday marked their largest win of the season, beating out their previous best of 12, set against Tennessee Tech on March 31.
  • WKU’s 13-0 win over the Colonels marked their largest margin of victory in the series since April 25, 2001 when the Hilltoppers won by a 14 run margin, 17-3, in Bowling Green.
  • The Hilltoppers had 15 hits Tuesday which marked the fourth time this season the team has garnered 15 or more in a game.
