Hilltoppers prepare for rivalry game at MTSU
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will be back in action this Saturday as the travel to Murfreesboro, TN to take on the MTSU Blue Raiders.
The Tops will be fresh off their bye week, which couldn’t have come at a better time. WKU has started off the regular season with two straight losses, including a 30-24 loss to the underdog Liberty Flames.
On the other side, MTSU will be looking to capture its first victory of 2020 after a winless month of September that included a 42-0 loss to Army and 42-17 drubbing at the hands of Troy.
Even though the Blue Raiders have looked atrocious for the majority of the young season, Tops head coach Tyson Helton says you might as well throw the records out in a rivalry game like this one.
“You have to be able to know it’s an emotional game,” the second year head coach explains, “there’s going to be a lot of highs and lows and you have to be able to find that balance.”
The Hilltoppers have won the annual matchup in 4 of the last 5 years, including a 30-26 victory in the season-finale last year.
