Hilltoppers Move To 2-0 in C-USA With 68-61 Win Over Rice

BOWLING GREEN, Ky – Carson Williams had 22 points and Camron Justice and Josh Anderson each had 13 points as the Hilltoppers defeated Rice 68-61 to move to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA play.

The Tops put on a defensive clinic in the first half, holding the Owls to just 23 points over the first twenty minutes to take a 29-23 lead.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair between the two conference opponents, as Western Kentucky and Rice went to the under-4 minute TV timeout tied at 58 a piece.

But the Tops were able to hold on down the stretch, outscoring Rice 10-3 the rest of the game thanks to two Carson Williams buckets and an impeccable 6-6 showing from the free throw line.

The Hilltoppers will attempt to keep their perfect Conference USA record intact next Thursday night, as they hit the road to take on UAB for the first of two straight conference road games.

WKU will return to Diddle Arena on January 16th for a home game vs Old Dominion.
