Hilligan’s Sports Bar advances to Sweet Sixteen in Barstool Sports’ “Best College Bar” Bracket
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Cinderella story continues for one of Bowling Green’s most popular bars.
Hilligan’s Sports Bar has been competing in Barstool Sports’ “Best College Bar” bracket, a search for the top college bar in America.
Hilligan’s had to beat out Sully’s in Louisville in a play-in round to even make the full field of 64 other bars.
The bar, beloved by WKU students, was a 12 seed and squared off against Sky Bar representing 4-th seeded Auburn.
Hilligan’s was able to pull-off the first round upset, pulling in 51 percent of votes to advance to the round of 32.
In the second round of the bracket, Hilligan’s dream of claiming the top bar title continued, beating Innisfree Bar from Alabama with 55 percent of the vote to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
There’s been votes coming in from Hilltopper students past and present, and that kind of support means so much to Hilligan’s.
“It’s just kind of a legacy that’s built up over the years,” said Hilligan’s manager Ashley Bland. “People across the country went to WKU or just came through Bowling Green have stopped by. It’s just kind of caught on and they’re all supporting us. It’s just been awesome.”
