Hicks refuses to answer questions
(NBC News) Former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, one of President Trump’s closest advisors, appeared before the House Judiciary Committee Thursday.
After being named in the Mueller Report more than 180 times, Democrats were eager to hear Hicks’ account of possible obstruction by the president, including efforts to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
“It’s very important for the American people to know what happened – during the time when Donald Trump actually was president,” California’s Rep. Ted Lieu said prior to the closed door hearing.
But Hicks, who once admitted to Congress her work for the president required her to tell “white lies” reportedly refused to answer questions about her time in the White House after administration attorneys declared her immune from testifying.
Democrats argue they had no legal authority to do so.
