Helicopter crashes in Butler County

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – At about 11:15 a.m. Friday, a crop spraying helicopter in Butler County lost power and crashed into a soybean field, Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward said.

The pilot was awake and alert but injured and was flown from Butler County to a Nashville trauma center.

The aircraft went down in a field in the 11000 block of Russellville Road about 11 miles outside of Morgantown near the Logan County line in the Davis Crossroads area. The only passenger on the helicopter was not injured.

“The helicopter was totally destroyed,” Ward said.

Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration will be in Butler County Saturday to investigate.
