Health effects of false spring
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- The fake spring weather can bring excitement, especially if you love being outdoors, but health experts want people to be mindful of illnesses that can occur during colder temperatures.
With the inconsistent weather, many people want to go outside and enjoy the warmer temperatures, but health experts are encouraging everyone, especially children, to dress for all conditions.
Dr. Kelly Kries, a pediatrician at Norton Children’s Medical Group, said, “Even for myself, it’s very chilly in the morning. Layers are ideal so that you can have the coat on top versus a sweatshirt, and then that can be taken off in the afternoon when the weather warms up for sure.”
Dr. Kries also said that illnesses like RSV and the flu aren’t caused by cold weather but can spread germs because of things like runny noses.
