Hart County tourism to offer free field trip admission for teachers
HART COUNTY, Ky. – Over in Hart County, the tourism department is making sure every student goes on field trips this year at some of their biggest attractions in the area.
From July 17 to the 30, teachers get one day of free admission to Dutch County Safari Park, Kentucky Down Under, Adventure Zoo, Hidden River Cave or a free cold pop at Dennison’s Market. This is a great way for teachers to get a feel for the locations and plan where they want their field trips.
They also launched a program that offers assistance to teachers planning field trips for the upcoming year. Classrooms that meet certain requirements are eligible for a reimbursement of five dollars per student on the trip.
“Just seeing things in person and doing things hand on is just so much more of an immersive, effective adventure for them,” said Sandra Wilson, executive director of Horse Cave-Hart County Tourism.
K through 12 teachers can submit applications beginning Aug. 1.
