Hart Co. Sheriff’s Deputy passes away

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – A veteran of the Hart County Sheriff’s Office passed away unexpectedly Monday night.

The sheriff’s office made the announcement via their Facebook page, saying that Deputy Merle Glaab has died of a suspected heart attack.

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Deputy Merle Glaab.Thank you sir, for your service and brotherhood.Rest easy, Unit 373, we’ll take it from here.

Glaab first started working at the sheriff’s office in 1993 before recently retiring this year.

He also served as a school resources officer at Memorial Elementary School in Hart County.

According to Hart County Sheriff Jeff Wilson, Glaab knew all the kids by name and carried around candy in his pockets to give to them.

Wilson said Glaab was loved by everyone who knew him.

Glaab was 68 years old.
