Hart Co. man charged with fleeing police in vehicle

HARDYVILLE, Ky. – A Hardyville man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he fled police this past weekend.
According to a uniform citation, on the night of Dec. 27, the Horse Cave Police Department observed a vehicle traveling without its headlights on.
Authorities say an officer attempted to catch the vehicle and activated the cruiser’s emergency equipment.
During this time, authorities say the vehicle failed to stop, reaching speeds of at least 100 miles per hour.
Police say the vehicle eventually slowed and began swerving between lanes.
Authorities say the vehicle then turned onto Defries Road, where the driver, identified as 33-year-old Taylor Weiser of Canmer, was taken into custody.
According to police, a vehicle search resulted in the discovery of marijuana, a large amount of suboxone, and an unidentified crystal-like substance.
Weiser was transported to The Medical Center at Caverna for a blood draw.
Weiser remains at the Hart County Jail on charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense, failure to illuminate head lamps, no operators-moped license, reckless driving, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, first offense, possession of marijuana, prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense, and third-degree possession of a controlled substance – drug unspecified.
