Hart Co. man accused of threatening to kill neighbor

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – A Horse Cave man is accused of threatening to kill his neighbor and a responding Hart County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Jon McGavic, 54, was charged early this morning with three counts of third-degree terroristic threatening, and one count each of alcohol intoxication, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest and intimidating a witness in the legal process.

Deputies were called to 406 College Street in Horse Cave where a man said his neighbor was threatening to kill him. When the first responding deputy arrived, McGavic would not come out of his home. The deputy moved his car to conceal it, and when he did he said McGavic came out his home and threatened to kill the neighbor, according to McGavic’s arrest citation.

The deputy called for back up and said McGavic went back and forth from talking reasonably to balling his fist as though he was preparing to fight deputies. As they tried to take him into custody, deputies said he jerked away from them and he threatened to kill one of the deputies.

He is lodged in the Hart County Jail.
