Happy ‘Roo’ Year! Come meet baby kangas with me!

Adventure Zoo welcomes record baby joeys in 2023

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – Attention animal lovers! Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo has broken its record for the most baby kangaroos born in a single season.

Despite still being in the nursing stage, these little ones are already quite active.

Horse Cave/Hart County Tourism Director Sandra Wilson said, “It’s just like having a field full of little kids running around. They’re so happy and excited.”

The smaller joeys still stay snuggled up in their mother’s pouches.

Why not ring in 2023 with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and come get up close and personal with these cute baby marsupials?

“Children just have a ball with them,” Wilson exclaimed. “Some of the kids are a little afraid of them until they get out there and discover how fluffy soft, soft, and sweet they are and to get to feed them out of your hand, it’s fabulous!”

Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo’s Brian Dale said, “It’s a unique experience to see the little ones like that. They’re everywhere in the outback, so you don’t have to worry about missing one of them.”

The cute kangas love to meet new visitors, especially children, who can’t get enough of the cuddly creatures.

“The kids, they fall in love with them,” Dale said. “They want to take one home. They don’t realize [kangaroos actually] make better pets than cats or dogs because they’re always ‘hoppy’ to see you!”
