Handmade bowls needed for 2026 Empty Bowls fundraiser

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One local group could use your help to prepare for its 2026 Empty Bowls initiative.
On Saturday, Jan. 31, the Bowling Green community is invited to gather for a bowl making event at the Warren County Public Library IDEA Lab at the Bob Kirby Branch.
The event will last from 2 to 4 p.m. to help make bowls for next year’s Empty Bowls event.
Empty Bowls will be held on March 19, 2026 at Broadway United Methodist Church. This will be the 13th year of the event, where participants make a purchase in exchange for a handmade bowl and a hot meal.
Those interested are encouraged to reserve a spot by contacting Katie Murray by email at katiem@warrenpl.org. In addition, bowls can be made by contacting Philip Woodward, who teaches classes at the Pots Place downtown on the square. His email is philipwoodwardart@gmail.com.
WKU students can reach out to ceramics professor Greg Strange if interested in taking part. His email is greg.strange@wku.edu, and his phone number is 270-745-5886.
