Hackett named CUSA Women’s Golfer Of The Week

DALLAS, Texas – WKU women’s golf junior Sydney Hackett earned her second career Conference USA Golfer of the Week honor on Wednesday.

Hackett finished tied for third at the UNF Collegiate, leading the Lady Tops to their second tournament win in as many weeks. Hackett also finished third at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational to begin the spring season.

For WKU, the win marks the first time in program history the Lady Tops have won two tournaments in the spring, and just the fifth season ever they have posted multiple victories.

For the tournament, Hackett finished with a 3-over 219 with only one player finishing under par in the entire 87-player field. The Ashburn, Virginia, native opened play Monday with a 3-under 69 and concluded with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Both rounds were the best on the team and among the best in the entire field. Hackett finished second in Par 4 scoring (+4) and was tied for fourth in Par 5 scoring (-3). Her 37 pars and nine birdies were tied for the fourth-most in the field.

Hackett and the Lady Tops are ranked No. 57 this week and host the Spring Break Shootout, March 17-18, at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Fla.
