Habitat for Humanity receives help in building townhomes

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Friday morning, Habitat for Humanity had some help building homes in a local neighborhood.

Employees of the Warren County Sheriff’s office came out to the Durbin Estates Neighborhood in Bowling Green to help fix up three townhomes for three families to have affordable housing.

Once everything is said and done, the families who purchase these homes will do so on a 0% interest mortgage. This means the payment will be no more than 30% of their gross monthly income.

Habitat for Humanity executive director Rodney Goodman says this wouldn’t be possible without all the hard-working volunteers.

“It’s just fantastic to see these guys give back. We really appreciate them taking their time and being out here. They’re the heart of what we do. They’re the ones who help us do this affordably. If we had to pay for all of this labor, it would cost us a whole bunch more and the housing wouldn’t be as affordable as it is,” Goodman said.

Goodman expects the houses to be done by the end of October.
