Renovations underway at H.P. Thomas Bark Park

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The H.P. Thomas Bark Park just received a huge donation from Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

It will allow several expansions to come in a short time.

These improvements are expected to draw even more dog owners.

They will also give Warren Countians a greater dog park experience.

The H.P. Thomas Bark Park received a $7,500 donation from Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

This comes after commissioners approved the donation at a previous city commission meeting.

The city will allocate an additional $3,000, totaling over $10,000 to bring improvements to the park.

Those improvements include up to 8 shade trees to provide natural shade, concrete benches, and shade structures.

The shade structures will be placed in both the small and big dog fenced areas.

The park will also feature 12 “playground toys” for the dogs.

This includes balance beams, wall climbers, hoops to run through and bridges.

Brent Belcher, the Director of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, says this will raise the bar for the park.

Belcher also says the timeline for the improvements varies, but the concrete benches are step one.

He tells us the concrete benches should only take days.

Parts of the park will be open while the 12 dog attractions and other improvements are worked on.

Belcher says the weather plays a role in timing as well.
