GypsyMoon Marketplace supports small businesses during holiday season

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The bi-annual GypsyMoon Marketplace is going on at the Highland Stables.
At the event, vendors sell handmade, homemade and original creations. People can find vintage and antique treasures, original art, home decor and restored and repurposed items.
And with shopping small meaning more than ever this holiday season, the owner of Highland Stables says why it’s important to them that people come out and show support.
“It’s not even just supporting local because we do have several different states here, but it’s just shopping small which I think is gonna mean so much this holiday season. At the end of the day, I think Lowe’s and Home Depot and Target, while I love them all, they’re gonna be fine at the end of the year. It’s those small mom and pop shops that need our support this time,” said Highland Stables owner and GypsyMoon Marketplace co-founder Angie Mosley.
There’s over 80 vendors, live music, food and giveaways. The vendors are grateful this event was still happening, as others across the country were cancelled.
“A man told me last night that normally they do 16 shows a year, and this is the first one they’ve gotten to do,” said River Bend Blooms owner Michelle Wheeler.
Wheeler said this event, as well as the community, greatly helped her business during tough times.
“For a small business like me, this is my very first year growing and when the pandemic hit I had thousands of flower stems that were just coming into bloom and the florists were all closed. Bowling Green and Warren County our community stepped up huge and supported our farm,” said Wheeler.
To keep people safe and socially distanced, tickets were purchased in advance and shoppers had to select a time for their shopping experience.
