Guthrie’s Alzheimer’s bill signed into law

WASHINGTON D.C.,- A bi-partisan bill introduced by South Central Kentucky Congressman, Brett Guthrie, has been signed into law by President Donald Trump.

The bill tackles Alzheimer’s Disease.

Guthrie’s legislation is called the Building our Largest Dementia Infrastructure Act, or BOLD.

The BOLD Act will create a public health infrastructure to support prevention, treatment and care for patients with Alzheimer’s and related neurological diseases.

Specifically, it will allow for the building of an Alzheimer’s and related dementias network by establishing Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias public health centers.

The Act will also require robust data analysis and reporting through cooperative agreements with the centers for disease control, that will ensure data on Alzheimer’s, cognitive decline, caregiving, and health disparities are analyzed and disseminated to the public in a timely manner.
