Green River Ferry and portions of Green River Feery Road to remain closed until spring 2020

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky.- The Green River Ferry and portions of Green Ferry Road will remain closed until early spring 2020.
The announcement was made Tuesday by officials from Mammoth Cave National Park.
The Green River Ferry vehicle ramp improvement project was originally supposed to be completed by November 15.
According to a news release from Mammoth Cave, the project’s contractor, Kovilic’s Construction Company, has experienced several delays during their work. The upcoming winter weather is also forcing the company to resubmit design information on constructing a higher coffer dam, larger than what was originally planned.
Once construction is completed, the ramp extension project will extend the current vehicle access ramps into the Green River by 30 ft., which should allow the ferry boat to operate during periods of low water levels.
