Grayson County man allegedly drives van into house, flees police for several days

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A Grayson County man is facing charges after police say he drove a van into a home.

According to a report by K105.com, Barry E. Payton, 42, of Caneyville, was arrested by Grayson County law enforcement.

Payton allegedly drove a GMC Safari van into a parked vehicle and home in the 300 block of South Main Street on Wednesday, December 10.

Law enforcement told K105 that when they arrived at the crash scene, they determined that the van was traveling southbound, left the roadway and went onto a steep embankment. The van then struck the parked vehicle and the home, causing moderate damage.

Payton made contact with the resident of the home, who was not injured, and then fled the scene on foot.

A search was conducted and Payton was not located.

Payton was arrested on Monday and was lodged at the Grayson County Detention Center.

He was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a DUI-suspended license.
