Grayson County Emergency Management assessing flood damage

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – In Grayson County, officials are assessing the damage seen from the recent storms, saying there are still a few county roads underwater that they can’t access easily.

There have also been some homes in the Nolin Estates near the river that are collapsing due to the water.

Thankfully though, there are no deaths and they have not had to evacuate due to the water.

Officials want to make sure the community knows a few things that can help them if they are still experiencing emergencies.

“They can call dispatch, they can call 911… and if there’s any type of emergency arise or even… contact us as well. So far, we’ve not really had any emergency type situation like that, and… hopefully the water will reside and we can get to those homes that are kind of cut off from us right now,” DeeDee Whitely, deputy director of Grayson County Emergency Management, says.

She commends the road crews that have been out helping to maintain roads and get them accessible again, and she says they’re just chugging along right now, doing what they can to help their community.
