Govt. soon requiring many American workers to be vaccinated

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In the next few days, companies with more than 100 employees can expect to learn more about an emergency vaccine mandate.

President Biden announced in September that businesses with at least 100 workers will be required to vaccinate their workforce or require weekly Covid tests.

The Biden Administration will require companies to give employees paid time off to get vaccinated and paid sick leave if they have side effects from the shot.

This new rule could affect up to 100 million Americans, or 2/3s of the country’s workforce.

Local organizations like Western Kentucky University are still waiting for finalized guidelines from the U.S. Department of Labor.

WKU media spokesperson Jace Lux said, “I think like everything with the pandemic some people see this as a positive, some people will see this as a negative. This pandemic certainly has been divisive in a number of ways, so I think people will have mixed feelings about this. And that’s to be anticipated.”

One question many American workers are still waiting for is who will foot the bill for the weekly Covid tests for unvaccinated employees.
