Governor orders flags to half-staff to honor fallen soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Flags will be flown half-staff on Thursday.

Governor Andy Beshear ordered flags to half-staff at state buildings on March 27 to honor a Kentuckian who died while on active duty in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Spc. Chaz R. McGowan, of Casey County, died on March 8 while on assignment in Grafenwohr, Germany. McGowan was on assignment with the 2nd Calvary Regiment.

On Thursday, A graveside service will be held at 11 am (EDT) at the Glenwood Cemetery in Liberty.

All state buildings will lower flags to half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Gov. Beshear asks all individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in the tribute.
