Governor Beshear commends Kentucky National Guard for helping those affected by Hurricane Debby

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Governor Andy Beshear held his Team Kentucky update Thursday, addressing a number of topics.

A couple of the main points were mentioned at the end of the update, firstly involving his rumored inclusion in the vice presidential race.

The other involved the Kentucky National Guard’s help for those affected by Hurricane Debby.

Here’s what the governor had to say about why he easily decided to help:

“What many people don’t know is Florida sent a lot of their emergency management personnel that was in our EOC for months at a time… left their families and were there to help us. So we immediately said yes when this request came in,” he said.

Beshear goes on to say he hopes this trend of helping each other and developing partnerships continues throughout the entire U.S… adding “when a natural disaster hits, there aren’t Democrats or Republicans… just Americans.”
