Governor Andy Beshear vetos House Bill 216
FRANKFORT, Ky.- The governor said he is vetoing House Bill 216. The bill would allow Kentucky Department of Agriculture employees to accept grants and loans from a program run by the agency they work for. To date, this practice has been prohibited under state law and ethics opinions. The Governor added that he is also concerned because the bill tries to be retroactive to cover the last two years. Beshear shared that his decision comes from thinking right is right and wrong is wrong, and that the same rules should apply across the board.
