Governor Andy Beshear stops in Bowling Green for campaign
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Supporters of Gov. Andy Beshear came together downtown on Friday to rally behind the incumbent Democratic candidate.
Beshear made a stop at his new campaign field office at the corner of East Main Avenue on Fountain Square to make sure his supporters knock on doors and make phone calls for his re-election.
He touted the state’s low unemployment rate and the city of Bowling Green’s booming electric vehicle market.
However, as much as he loves the state’s economy at the moment, he says there’s one area he would love to improve on even more in the future.
“I love being number two in the country in economic development; but to stay there, we’ve got to be tops in education as well. We’re currently 44th in teacher pay. That is wrong, and we cannot sustain this amazing growth. We can’t build the lives that we dream up for our kids without winning the competition for talent that is hiring our educators,” Beshear says.
Beshear also hopes UPS and the Teamsters are able to come to an agreement on their strike, saying it would be a win-win to come to a long term agreement.
