Governor Andy Beshear announces funding to help railways in Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – During Thursday’s Team Kentucky update, Governor Andy Beshear announced nearly $3 million in grant funds to railroads in Kentucky.
This is set to help industrial access and infrastructure improvement in seven counties across Kentucky.
Upgrades include rail line expansion, access road construction, signal and lighting upgrades and improving traffic flow.
Beshear says this is going to be a huge boost to not only safety in Kentucky, but attracting businesses as well.
“By making these investments, we’re not just improving rail service and public safety. We’re creating new opportunities to attract business. When companies see a state committed to strong infrastructure, they choose to invest here. That means more jobs for communities and helping our communities grow,” Beshear says.
This funding comes from the Kentucky Rail Crossing Improvement and Kentucky Industrial Access and Safety Improvements programs.
R.J. Corman and Norfolk Southern are two of the railways receiving funding from this announcement.
