Governor addresses how schools in orange and red counties should move forward
BROWNSVILLE Ky.- In his daily press briefing on Dec. 14, Governor Andy Beshear also talked about schools and how they should move forward with in person and online instruction.
Specifically, he mentioned how schools in orange and red counties should go about returning to in-person instruction. He emphasized that a hybrid model of learning must be more aggressively implemented in red counties if they return to some form of in-person learning.
Districts like the Edmonson County School District are now looking at what the plan will be for a return to the classrooms. This comes as a surge of cases is expected for the Christmas season, as gatherings are expected.
Edmonson County Schools superintendent Brian Alexander said he’s proud of the flexibility of his staff and the parents.
“We want our families to be safe, we want our kids to be safe when they’re in school, we want to try to do everything we can to ensure that they’re safe while they’re there and that our staff is safe. I think we’ve all worked together to get that job done,” Alexander said.
Beshear emphasized that the new public health guidance for schools are still being finalized and he is still collecting suggestions.
