Gov. orders flags to half-staff to honor fallen soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Flags will be flown half-staff Friday.

Governor Andy Beshear is ordering all state buildings to lower flags to half-staff from sunrise to sunset to honor U.S. Army Maj. Scott Swindell.

Swindell died in the line of duty on February 17 in Landstuhl, Germany. Swindell was on assignment with the 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command.

A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Friday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.

Gov. Beshear is also asking businesses and individuals to participate in the tribute.
