Gov. Beshear vetoes bill regarding transgender athletes

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear vetoed a bill Wednesday that was set to ban transgender girls from girls’ sports in Kentucky.

According to the Legislative Research Commission website, SB 83 would not have allowed students born as a biological male to participate in athletic teams, activities or sports designated as “girls.”

The bill was sponsored by Sen. Robby Mills, Sen. Max Wise, Sen. Danny Carroll, Sen. Rick Girdler, Sen. Phillip Wheeler and Sen. Mike Wilson.
