Gov. Beshear announces largest Monday for new COVID cases; plus recommends guidelines for Red Zones
Governor Beshear announced the highest Monday on record with 1,032 new positive cases.The states total is now to 109,670
Kentucky’s positivity rate continues to rise. Monday the rate is 6.25%.
Three more Kentuckians died from the virus Monday. The total number of lives lost in Kentucky is 1,492.
The Barren River District Health Department has not released the latest local numbers, at the time of publication.
In the WNKY viewing area, six counties are in the Red Zone. These counties include, Allen, Barren,Butler, Hart, Logan and Warren. These counties have an average of 25 or more daily cases per 100 thousand people.
Under the COVID-19 reduction plan these counties are recommended to follow state guidelines.
Those recommendations include:
- Employers allow employees to work from home when possible
- Non-critical government offices to operate virtually
- Reduce in-person shopping; order online or curbside pickup
- Order take out; avoid dining in restaurants or bars
- Prioritize businesses that follow and enforce mask mandate and other guidelines
- Reschedule, postpone or cancel public and private events
- Do not host or attend gatherings of any size
- Avoid non-essential activities outside of your home
- Reduce overall activity and contacts, and following existing guidance, including 10 steps to defeat COVID-19.
Gov. Beshear stressed these are not mandates and are solely recommendations on how people can make their community safer.
