Gov. Andy Beshear orders flags to half-staff in honor of Rosalynn Carter

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear is directing that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of former first lady Rosalynn Carter.
According to a release by the governor’s office, the tribute lasts from sunrise Saturday, Nov. 25 through sunset Wednesday, Nov. 29.
A proclamation from the White House states, “Throughout her life as First Lady of Georgia and First Lady of the United States, Rosalynn Carter exemplified hope, warmth, and a steadfast commitment to doing all she could to address many of our society’s greatest needs. She was a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women and girls; an advocate for mental health and wellness for all; and a supporter of the often unseen and uncompensated caregivers of our children, aging loved ones, and people with disabilities. Above all, the deep love shared between Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter is the definition of partnership, and their humble leadership is the definition of patriotism.”
On Sunday, Beshear said via social media, “Our country is mourning the loss of a great First Lady with the passing of Rosalynn Carter. Mrs. Carter lived out her faith and values every day, spreading love and kindness wherever she went. Britainy and I are praying for the former President and the entire Carter family.”
Funeral services for Rosalynn Carter will take place Nov. 29 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, followed by private interment at the Carter family residence.
