Gott Volunteer Fire Department remembers fallen firefighter with memorial ride

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- The Gott volunteer Fire Department in Warren County is honoring fallen firefighter, Kyle Hendrick, with a memorial bicycle ride taking place June 14.

Hendrick was killed during a training exercise November 16, 2000. The Hendrick family initiated the startup of the Gott volunteer fire department in 1977 and continues to be involved.

The Fire Department serves the eastern portion of Warren County. The memorial bicycle ride will be 220 miles and is expected to take 10.5 hours from Bowling Green to the firefighter’s memorial in Frankfort.

Riders will leave the station at 6 a.m. Anyone wishing to donate to the ride can make their donations at any BB&T location. Assistant Chief Craig Peay said the money will help pay the educational expenses of Hendrick’s niece and nephew.

“This educational money that we’ll be raising is in memory of Kyle to go to his nephew and niece, to help them with educational funds for trade school or vocational school, or even for high school that they need to finish up to get ready for college,”  Peay said.
