Got Stormy prepares for Kentucky Downs; fresh off 4-Star-Dave win in Saratoga
FRANKLIN, Ky. – Got Stormy is the talk of the Kentucky Downs this season. The 6-year old filly won the 4-Star-Dave in Saratoga just last month. Now, she and her trainer, Hall of Fame thoroughbred racehorse trainer Mark Casse, are currently finishing up their stent in Saratoga and preparing to make their way down to Kentucky.
Casse said he has high hopes that she can repeat her 2019 victory where she dominated against the colts, winning the Fourstardave.
This is Got Stormy’s fifth season racing, and in that time, she’s made 30 starts, 12 wins and $2.4 million worth of purse earnings.
Casse said after spending the last three years with Got Stormy, he believes she has proven herself against the critics and earned herself a spot into the hall of fame.
“When she runs, it’s a little more emotional because so much is expected of her. Her last win was very gratifying because a lot of so-called experts had kind of written her off and said she wasn’t as good as she used to be, and she proved them otherwise,” said Casse.
Kentucky Downs renovated their turf course for the the first time in the track’s 31-year history with all new sod last November. Casse said this shouldn’t be a problem for Stormy seeing as she won on their turf at the 2019 Fourstardave.
