Goodwill Industries expands career services
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, and several other nonprofit and employer partners, made a visit to Goodwill industries of Kentucky on Tuesday.
Goodwill industries of Kentucky president and chief executive officer Amy Luttrell, said Goodwill is making a move to offer people a path to a career rather than simply helping them find a job.
“ They need a helping hand, and some assistance with barriers that they have, to help them make that transition, and become employed to support their families like they really want to,” Luttrell said.
Getting into a career path rather than simply taking a job can help break the poverty cycle, she said.
Mayor Bruce Wilkerson also shared his thoughts on the expanded services.
“Goodwill through their opportunities here at the employment center are trying to help make better employees, and better opportunities for their clients,” Wilkerson said.
The purpose of this event is to not only help families find jobs, but to make sure they have long-lasting career paths.
