Good Samaritan takes keys from driver accused of almost striking Edmonson County school bus
BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- A woman from Brownsville is under arrest after deputies in Edmonson County said she almost struck a school bus Thursday morning while driving.
According to the sheriff’s office, Denise Barnes, 38, is accused of almost rear ending the school bus while it was stopped to pick up a student in the 4300 block of Veteran’s Memorial Highway.
Deputies said the person who called 9-1-1 actually approached Barnes’s vehicle and removed the keys from the car.
When deputies arrived, they say they found suspected gabapentin, tramadol, Valium and Xanax, in addition to chewed up pills in her mouth, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Barnes was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and driving on a DUI suspended license.
She was lodged in the Hart County Jail.
