Glory Baby Ministry hosts Derby Darlins fundraiser to help mothers going through early infant loss
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Glory Baby Ministry held its biggest annual fundraiser at the National Corvette Museum on Thursday.
Derby Darlins is a Kentucky Derby-style affair featuring casino games, a silent auction and a red carpet show.
The Derby fashion was on display throughout the night, with proceeds going to benefit the ministry, which helps mothers going through troubling times with early infant loss.
The biggest expense the organization has is making the care packages that they send to mothers, which makes fundraisers like this all the more important.
“Last year, we served over 900 losses. So that’s 900 packages that are going out to different countries that could cost $20 to $30 per shipment. Sometimes these burial packages are needed the next day because the baby was born stillborn… and so that expense is quite large, and we have to have events like this to keep going, to keep thriving,” board member Kendall Roper says.
Glory Baby Ministry ships packages around the United States and to different countries, so community support is especially important.
Roper says she and the staff on the board are grateful to those who came out to support them and helped raise over $60,000 during the night.
