Glory Baby Ministry holds Derby hat auction

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Glory Baby Ministry, a local organization that supplies burial gowns for families that have experienced miscarriages, stillbirths and infant loss, held their first annual Derby Hat Auction Sunday at The Charleston in Bowling Green.

A fashion show featuring the hats and a silent auction with merchandise and services from local vendors was held before the Derby hats were auctioned off, and food was served, as well.

Glory Baby Ministry supplies the gowns to families free of charge and they serve the entire United States. Jessica Heffinger, the founder and president of Glory Baby Ministry, says the organization makes the gowns out of wedding dresses and formal wear. The ministry was started by Heffinger and her husband after they experienced their own stillbirth.

Heffinger says the ministry spends between $65 and $85 to produce and ship each gown via overnight parcel to ensure the family receives them before a funeral.

Glory Baby Ministry is constantly looking for volunteers. For more information, visit the website at glorybabyministry.org.
