Glasgow police spare some spokes

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Police Department does their best every day to make a difference in someone’s life, and recently they did just that.

Donations come to the police department from all over the city, and around the holiday season even more so, and with the help of Walmart and GPD, life just got a little easier for one young man in Glasgow. During the holidays, Walmart donated several bikes to the department, and one of them ended up going to Jeremiah Likens.

The bike was delivered to Save A Lot in Glasgow by Glasgow Police Department Public Safety Officer Schelly Vance, who has come to know Likens over the years by volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club in town, Vance said one day she saw Likens walking to work, and that’s when she asked him if he had a bike.

Likens said that he did, but it got stolen, and right out of his front yard no less. Up until last week, Likens had been walking to work for several weeks. Vance said when she was asked to find a new owner for the department’s last bike, she knew exactly who to give it to.
