Glasgow Police Department recognizes National Police Week

GLASGOW, Ky.- The Glasgow Police Department is paying tribute to fallen officers during National Police Week.

Two officers, Robert Thurman and Henry Collins, died in the line of duty, both by gunfire in 1914 and 1929, respectively.  The department also remembers K-9 Ranger, who died in 2011 after being bitten by a snake.

Major Terry Flatt of the Glasgow Police Department says these losses reflect the ultimate sacrifice made in service to the community.

He emphasized the importance of honoring those who protect and serve Glasgow with dedication.

I love what I do,” Flatt said. “I’ve met a lot of good folks in the community and a lot of great officers across Kentucky.”

Flatt highlighted how critical it is to have committed police officers in every community.

Looking ahead, he shared that in 2026, the department will hold a ceremony to honor all fallen officers. The department hopes this observance inspires continued respect and support for law enforcement.
