Glasgow Police Department and community celebrate 3rd annual Faith and Blue Weekend
GLASGOW, Ky. – On Friday at Gorin Park in Glasgow, the community and Glasgow Police Department came together to celebrate the Faith and Blue Weekend.
The police helped pass out pizza, displayed how a K-9 unit works and demonstrated how they utilize their drones in certain scenarios, all in an effort to connect with the community.
Major Terry Flatt with the Glasgow Police Department says that this was not just an opportunity for the community to meet their officers but also for the officers to get to know the community better and learn more about those they protect.
“Obviously, it gives us a, you know, a chance to interact with the community. A chance for the community to come down today. We’ve actually put on a couple of K-9 demos so that they can see what, you know, a typical canine unit does. We’ve had a, brown demo which will take place here about 12:30 or 1. We’ve also put on a magic show for the, you know, the kids, but it kind of gives the community the chance to come out and meet their officers and vice versa, you know, for the officers to meet the community,” Flatt said.
This was the third annual Faith and Blue Weekend, and both the police and the community are already looking forward to next year’s event.
